Tony Lamar Connely departed from this world on June 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and joy. Born on November 3, 1965, in Savannah, Georgia, Tony's life was one filled with remarkable achievements and unfaltering love for his family and friends.
Throughout his illustrious career, Tony touched countless lives through various roles and endeavors. He devoted 30 years of service to the State of Georgia at Pineland Mental Health before embarking on a new chapter at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his professional life as he selflessly served as a foster parent for two decades and held leadership positions at Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of Truthful Lodge #375 of Portal, GA.
A man of many talents and passions, Tony was known for his exceptional culinary skills, witty sense of humor, and vibrant presence at every gathering. His love for music shone through his saxophone melodies, bringing joy to those around him. Tony's fondness for fishing expeditions and trips to Florida reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for life.
In every aspect of his being, Tony exuded warmth and kindness. His beloved wife Judy held a special place in his heart, alongside his treasured daughters Chelsia A. Connely and Amber S. Dezelle, along with son-in-law Stephen Dezelle. The arrival of his granddaughter Bailey brought immeasurable joy to Tony's life.
While we mourn the loss of Tony Lamar Connely, we find solace in the memories he created and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members including the love of his life, his wife Judy Connely of Statesboro, GA; daughters Chelsia A. Connely of Savannah, GA; and Amber S. (Stephen) Dezelle of Jackson, GA; and a son; granddaughter Bailey Dezelle; a sister Mary McGee of Pooler, GA; a brother Rickey (Bernette) Connely of Statesboro, GA; a brother William "John" Elijah of Oliver, GA; a sister Katherine Connely of Springfield, GA; sisters Rita Chambers-Moore, Margie Scott, Dorothy Harris Peterson; and a brother Jesse Chambers all of Wabasso, FL; his godchildren Brittany Lee and Jasmine Barnaby; a special nephew Darnell Chambers; special cousins Peggy Mae Clark and Walter Parks; and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
In honoring the remarkable life of Tony Lamar Connely, we remember him not with sorrow but with gratitude for having been part of our lives.
The family of Mr. Tony Connely will be receiving guests for the family visitation on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Connely will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Raphael Smith, officiating, Rev. Harry J. Tremble, Jr., pastor.
Burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral is in charge of final arrangements.
