Stanley Scott, a respected and beloved barber in the Statesboro community, was born on August 21, 1954, in Brooklet, Georgia to his parents, Leo Byrd and the late Jeanette Rogers. He passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness.
For over 40 years, Stanley dedicated his life to his craft as a barber, earning respect and admiration from his clients and friends alike. His passion for barbering was evident in every haircut he provided. More than just a skilled barber, he was a confidant and companion to each one of his clients. His smooth demeanor and respectful nature ensured that he never met a stranger; he welcomed each person with open arms, always ready to lend an ear or offer words of wisdom. His warmth and kindness made him a cherished friend to young and old alike.
Stanley’s educational journey began in the Bulloch County School System, culminating in his graduation from Southeast Bulloch High School in Brooklet, GA. His commitment to his community extended beyond his profession, as he also served honorably in the United States Army National Guard.
In addition to his love for barbering, Stanley found joy in binge-watching Western movies, relishing the stories that intertwined with his own experiences. His fondness for Rottweilers brought boundless happiness, and anyone who knew him could recall the joy these magnificent dogs brought to his life. Those who were closest to him knew how much he cherished the color purple, a symbol of his unique character and zest for life.
Stanley was united in holy matrimony to his loving wife Mrs. Glanesa Cooper on May 15, 2012, at The Pentecostal Church of God in Statesboro, GA where he was a devoted and faithful member.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, the late Jeanette Rogers; and his sister, Tammy Wilson, in rest. Their love and spirit remain with him, woven into the fabric of his legacy to be passed down to generations after.
Stanley's memories will be cherished by the loved ones he is survived by: his devoted wife, Mrs. Glanesa Scott of Statesboro, GA; and his beloved children: Stanley (Belinda) Scott and Ms. Jenna Scott, all of Warner Robins, GA, and Ms. Tashanta Scott, Ms. Logan Scott, and Ms. Fallon Scott, all of Statesboro, GA; Ms. Brittney Carter of Atlanta, GA; and Mr. Joshua Scott of Las Vegas, NV. Additionally, he leaves his memories to be cherished by his grandchildren, Fallon Scott and Logan Scott of Statesboro, GA; his brothers, Mr. Keith Scott and Mr. Terry Rogers Scott both of Statesboro, GA; Mr. Larry Scott of Savannah, GA; and Rev. Jimmy Byrd of Statesboro, GA; he is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
There will be a private viewing for his immediate family only.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Stanley Scott will be held graveside at Noon (12:00 PM) on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Eastside Cemetery, Northside Drive, Statesboro, GA. The eulogy will be given by Elder Antonio Clayton.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Scott, Joshua Scott, Darius Davis, Devin Scott, Jordon Scott, and Malik Carter.
