Ruth Marie Hobbs

Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Ms. Ruth Marie Hobbs, age 65 of Lyons. Ms. Hobbs passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, while at work in Lyons, GA after a very sudden illness.

Ruth Marie Hobbs was born to James Lawton Hobbs and Katie Mae Byrd on November 1, 1959, in Bulloch County. She received her education through the Bulloch County School System graduating from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1978. She transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Lyons, GA. Ruth was full of life and love. She was the life of the party in every room that she entered. She loved people, music, dancing, singing, and plain good old fashion fun.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father the late James Lawton Hobbs and her mother the late Katie Mae Byrd. A brother the late John Hobbs, and her favorite child the late Leory “Tee” Elmore Tillman Jr. also preceded her in death.

Ruth leaves her memories to be cherished and never forgotten by her children, Shanquail N. Hobbs of Statesboro, GA; TyRonda C. Hobbs of Orlando, FL; Mervine B. Sharpton of Lyons, GA; five grandchildren, Osh-Keyonnah (Choc) D. Hobbs, Johnny (Jt) T. Hollie Jr., Shakeria (Kiera) C. Hobbs, Rashode (Shode) D. Hobbs, Allen D. Smith; three great-grandchildren Tai’Lynn K. Hobbs, Caydan J. Hobbs, Jaheim Amari Hollie; nine siblings, Delois Byrd of Sanford, FL; Mary Hobbs of Nevils, GA; Willie Hobbs, Annie Perkins, Donna Hobbs, Lawton Hobbs and Sandra Hobbs all of Statesboro, GA; and Annette Hobbs of Register, GA; Loretta Hobbs of Metter, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who she loved endlessly.

Public viewing and visitation for Ms. Ruth Hobbs will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services to honor the life of Ms. Hobbs will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the Ollie B. Holland Chapel of Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery in Metter, GA 

Pallbearers will be JT Hollie, Rashode Hobbs, James Hobbs, Corey Hobbs, Melvin Perkins Jr, and Brian Perkins
