Rev. Marcus Jerome Fye

Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Rev. Marcus Jerome Fye, age 74, of Statesboro. Rev. Fye passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his residence after a brief illness.

Rev. Marcus Jerome Fye passed on this Christian journey to eternal rest on Saturday morning June 1, 2024, at his home under Regency Hospice Care. Rev. Fye was born September 26, 1949, to the late Mr. Hartridge Fye, Sr., and the late Mrs. Ella May Mills Fye. He was the seventh of 11 children. 

His Christian experience began at an early age at Mount Zion AME Church of Vidalia, Georgia. Rev. Fye answered his calling according to Ephesians 3:7; "I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by the working of His power." Rev. Fye became a minister on December 16, 2018, with Rev. Raphael Smith conducting his ordination services. 

He was a graduate of J.D. Dickerson High School in Vidalia, GA, class of 1969. He is also a U.S. Air Force veteran. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mr. Hartridge Fye, Sr., and Mrs. Ella May Mills Fye, Lois C. Blue, Holley M. Fye Graddick, Hartridge Fye, Jr., Charles Fye, and James C. Fye. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years Mrs. Johnnie Sue Moore Fye of Statesboro, GA; a sister Lorene M. (Frank) Fye Berry of Laurelton, NY; brothers Willie C. (Sheila) Fye of Brooklyn, NY; and Elmer (Ida) Fye of Hollis, NY.; he is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Rev. Marcus J. Fye will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Kelsey D. Moore, Russell H. Moore, Robert Green, Willie Campbell, Craig Kirkland, and Martezz Smith
