Michael Griner

Mr. Michael Marquez Griner, age 39, of Baxley, GA., passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Augusta University Medical Center after a brief illness. “Big Mike”, as he was affectionately known by many, was a lifelong resident and Appling County native. He was a 2001 graduate of the Appling County Comprehensive High School. After graduating from High School, Mr. Griner enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he honorably served his Country 8 years, earning the rank of (E-4) Corporal. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps on December 14, 2009.

After being honorably discharged, Mr. Griner earned his license to practice as a licensed electrician and was employed as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers based in Macon Georgia.

Mr. Griner survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Griner of Lacombe, LA; his mother, Gladys Goethia and his father, Henry Goethia, one sister, Lawanza Griner, one brother, Willie Johnson all of Baxley, GA. He is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, a niece, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service and burial with military honors for Mr. Michael M. Griner will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Old Field Memorial Gardens in Baxley, GA with Bishop Pearl Zinnamon, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Old Field Memorial Gardens, there will be no viewing after the Eulogy.
