Mrs. Marie (Moore) Porter, of Statesboro, GA formally of Boston, MA. Passed away at her home after a brief illness, on March 17, 2024.
Marie was the 3rd child to the late Thomas Moore, Sr. and Ruby (Thompson) Moore, born on November 16, 1942, in Sylvania, GA.
Marie was a beloved soul who graced this world with her presence for 81 years.
Educated in the Screven County school system, Marie carried herself with grace and intelligence throughout her life.
In the early 1960’s, Marie relocated to Boston, MA in search of better opportunities. One of those opportunities was meeting the love of her life, Mr. James Porter, shortly thereafter the two became one and were married.
Marie and James raised their only daughter Yvonne Porter in Boston.
Marie dedicated her career to retail sales. She worked her way up to key holder at Lerner's, now New York Inc. Marie’s impeccable customer service skills made her a shining retail star. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Upon retirement, she dedicated her life to helping raise her granddaughter, Asia. She opened her own home daycare caring for family and friend’s children. Even in her later years, her love for nurturing children continued to blossom. She would smile and speak to every child she met. Always asking “What’s your name?” “How old are you?”.
Marie was known for keeping a clean house, you were required to take your shoes off upon arrival. Every Saturday morning, she would clean the house from top to bottom, making Yvonne and Asia help of course.
Marie enjoyed bringing her family and friends together for gatherings. On the holidays she would invite everyone over to their home, preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Marie was famously known for her “Ree’s Rice" and cookouts. Marie loved shopping; she always had her purse in hand even though she never spent her own money.
