Mother Lynda Jean Jackson

October 26, 1960 — July 9, 2024

Statesboro, GA

Mother Lynda Jean Jackson, age 63, departed from this world at 6:00 AM on the morning of Tuesday, July 9, 2024. God decided to call Lynda home and she answered His call. She was born on October 26, 1960, to the late Agnes Jackson Smith. She was a graduate of Bryan County High School. After graduating from High School, she furthered her education and graduated from Ogeechee Technical College as a Certified Medical Assistant. After she graduated from college, she had a heart for geriatrics, and became employed at Westwood Nursing Center and later Brown’s Nursing Center in Statesboro, Georgia. She then decided to relocate to the north to Leominster, Massachusetts, and remained there from 2003 to 2009. While living there she worked for Hillcrest Nursing Center. In 2015 she decided to move back home to Georgia, where she remained until The Master called her to her heavenly home. After returning to Georgia, she desired to be a homemaker to enjoy more time with her children. Lynda loved to go fishing. She also loved to cook, spend time with her family at family gatherings, and she loved to sing.

As time went by, her grandkids began arriving, becoming the joy of her life. She loved them unconditionally and never missed an opportunity to be with them. She was very supportive of her family and was always present at every family function. Lynda's smile lit up every room she entered. She never met a stranger and always had an encouraging word. She and her oldest son were like two peas in a pod; she was his sidekick. Whenever he said, "Mom, let's go," she would always be ready to make a move. She shared a unique bond with each of her children and loved them all unconditionally.

Lynda leaves her memories to be cherished by five sons and one daughter; Kontray Jackson of Statesboro, Georgia; James, (Courtney) Slater of Pembroke, Georgia; Carlos (Vanessa) Jackson of Statesboro, Georgia; Sylvester (Samantha) Swinson, of Port Huron, Michigan; Christopher (Danielle) Jackson of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; a daughter, Sylvia (Chris) Jackson of Statesboro, Georgia; a bonus son that she loved dearly Anthony Johnson of Hinesville, Georgia; 19 grandchildren, Kimora Jackson, Kadin Jackson, Khalil Jackson, Eli Johnson, Marvin Johnson, James Slater, III, Jaceyon Slater, Nova Slater, Liliana Jackson, Georgia Jackson, Deondre Swinson, Aaliyah Muma, Jamoria Allen, Javorice Allen, Malcolm Allen, Ahlonnie Swinson, James Bostic, Jerrick Bostic, Geremy Bostic, and three great-grandchildren as well as her goddaughter Alexus Washington.

Lynda was a dedicated member of Greater Rock Mountain of Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Al Green. Lynda was also the mother of the church. She loved her church family and wasn’t ashamed to let you know. She admired our other church mother, Mrs. Dorothy Green, who she accepted as her sister and close friend.

Her life was a testament to her faith, and she always made a point to share her love for the Lord with everyone she met. You could never say anything that clashed with her spirit, for she firmly believed in her favorite quotes: "The devil is a liar," and "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus." She lived every day guided by the word of God. Lynda will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. As she would say, "May the work I’ve done speak for me!" To her children and family, she bids us goodnight, with the promise that one day, we will be reunited in glory.

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
