Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Linda Sue Coleman-Lovett, age 62, of Portal. Mrs. Lovett passed away Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at her residence in Portal, GA after an extended illness.
Linda Sue Lovett, born on March 14, 1962, in Swainsboro, GA, gracefully departed from this world on April 17, 2024, in Portal, GA. She was a woman of many talents and passions. Linda was the heart and soul behind Alterations By Linda, a business she owned and operated with dedication since December 2008.
Her journey through education was one marked by success and a thirst for knowledge. Linda was a proud graduate of Swainsboro High School and Swainboro Technical College. She later furthered her studies, obtaining a degree in Interior Design from East Georgia College and a diploma in Early Childcare Education from Ogeechee Technical College.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Linda's hobbies and interests shone brightly. She possessed a deep love for fashion and interior design, displaying her creativity through sewing projects. Her family was the center of her universe, and she found solace in spending quality time with loved ones.
Linda's warm and compassionate nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She exuded kindness, gentleness, and an unwavering care for those around her. Her ability to connect with people on a profound level meant that she never met a stranger; everyone felt welcomed in her presence.
Family held paramount importance in Linda's life. She treasured her husband of 22 years, Ricky Darrell Lovett, and shared a special bond with her children: Terrance Coleman, Matthew Lovett, Brian Coleman, Michael Coleman, and Shannon Matthews. Her adoration extended to her grandchildren as well.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Ricky Darrell Lovett, her sons Terrance (Vanessa) Coleman, Matthew (Lisa) Lovett, Brian Coleman, Michael Coleman, Shannon Matthews, a niece/daughter in love Latonya Holloway, her mother, Betty Joe Davis, brothers, Wendell Coleman and John (Naomi) Coleman Jr., a sister Debra Coleman, and her special nieces and nephews Tomecca (Daniel) Sloan, Jessica Coleman, Bobbieline Phillips, Larry (Octavia) Eastling.
She is preceded in death by her father John Coleman Sr., stepmother Pearl Coleman, stepfather Willie Davis and her twin sister, Glenda Coleman.
Linda faced the end of her earthly journey with immense courage as she battled cancer. In the midst of pain and suffering, she remained resilient until the peaceful moment when she bid farewell under the compassionate care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Per Linda's wishes, her end-of-life celebration will be a non-traditional celebration of life with her remains to be cremated afterwards.
Public viewing will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by an additional viewing on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a Celebration of Life gathering from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home
