Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Lamona Johnson, age 61 of Statesboro. Mrs. Johnson passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Lamona "Mona" Davis Johnson, age 61, of Statesboro, Georgia. Born on April 4, 1963, in Statesboro, she was the beloved daughter of the late Laura Kent Davis. Mona departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence after a brief illness.
Mona was a faithful and dedicated member of Hope Community Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, the late Laura Kent Davis, and now joins her in eternal peace. Her cherished memory will live on through her loving husband, Joseph O. Johnson of Statesboro, GA, and her children: Barry Davis of Americus, GA; Bryan (Vanity) Davis, and Brittany Davis, both of Statesboro, GA; and Jeremy (Jennifer) Johnson of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by her siblings: Linda Bennett of Chicago, IL; Lesley Davis of Atlanta, GA; and Sonja Davis of Statesboro, GA. Mona’s memory will also be forever treasured by her five grandchildren: Brianna Davis, Bnysha Davis, Braylon Davis, Aleriah Davis, and Isabella Davis, all of Statesboro, GA. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of extended family, including her five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Pearl Mobley of Irvington, NJ; Evangelist Mary Lexie, Mary (John) Beasley, and Susan Mobley, all of Sylvania, GA; Patricia Johnson of Claxton, GA; and Tommy (Oreta) Johnson of Atlanta, GA.
Her legacy is not one of sorrow but of joy and enduring love. May she rest in eternal peace.
A public viewing for Mrs. Lamona Johnson will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home. The family will receive guests for the family visitation from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Hope Community Baptist Church, 695 Hope Baptist Church Road, Statesboro, GA with Rev. Jennie Rollins, Pastor/eulogist.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tory Wallace, Eric Wallace, Bob Wallace, Monte Deloach and Damico Palmer
