Mr. Jonas Shields March, age 44, of Statesboro passed into eternal rest Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA after a brief illness. Jonas was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 24, 1979, to his parents, the late George March and the late Debbie Casteel Lamb.
Jonas was a graduate of Statesboro High School and enlisted in the United States Army after graduation. His last duty assignment was with the 648th Engineer Battalion and had earned the rank of E-4, Specialist. While serving in the United States Army, Jonas had earned many awards such as the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, The Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service medal, The Overseas Service Ribbon and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, just to name a few.
Jonas loved to travel. He traveled to Australia where he spent a month, he also traveled to Egypt and Mexico. He was a huge fan of NASCAR, he enjoyed playing Golf, grilling and cooking as well. Besides the things he enjoyed doing, he loved his two girls more than anything. He loved to sing "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift with his daughters, going swimming and watching Star Wars. Some of his fondest memories with his girls are taking them to Disney World and Lego Land.
Jonas was preceded in death by his mother, the late Debbie Casteel Lamb and his father, the late George March. His memories will forever be cherished by his two little girls, Mila Jayde and Ella Grace March, his former wife, Christi Howard March, all of Guyton, GA; a brother, Dale (Jami) Clendenin of Pekin, IL; his twin sister, Mary March of Statesboro, GA; his nephews, Brandin (Savannah) Hill of Statesboro, GA; Alex Clendenin of Pekin, IL; a niece, Brianna Hill and a great nephew, Jeremiah Hill all of Statesboro, GA.
Public viewing for Mr. Jonas March will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home from Noon to 5:00PM with family visitation from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
Funeral services for Mr. Jonas S. March will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Ollie B. Holland Memorial Chapel at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home with full military honors. His funeral service will be a non-traditional service with family and friends giving remarks.
Interment will be held privately at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.
Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements.
