Deacon John Lockett, Sr. was born on July 27, 1957, A proud native of Twin City, GA, to the late Claudie and Ruth Lockett.
John graduated from Emanuel County Institute, Class of 1975, he enlisted in The National Guard shortly afterward. He was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic combat training for the Army. There he was taught the skills and knowledge needed to become a soldier. This included physical fitness, weapon handling, first aid, and military discipline. John toured the world, from the United States to Germany, Jordan, and Egypt. John was united in Holy Matrimony to Perdthia Campbell on March 29, 1986. The couple shared four children together, John Lockett Jr, James Campbell, Ricardo Campbell, and Nicole Lockett. He started his career as a Truck Driver and went on to work for Pine Product, Wall Timber then Sheppard Lumber Co., until his health began to fail in 2019.
John was best known for using his hands to craft and build things. Building mobile homes at Bell Crest in Millen, Georgia was one of his trades that many didn't know of. He loved his family and spending time with them. When the family would gather together for different events, he would just sit back and take it all in. The memories would flow from his mind down to his heart because of the love and affection that was shown. He loved his family and really thought the world of them.
He lived a life of integrity and compassion, always putting others first. He was a man of strong faith, whose life was a testament to his beliefs.
