Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Ms. JaKia De’ceontae Lanier, age 36, of Savannah. Ms. Lanier passed away early Sunday morning, May 26, 2024, at her residence.
JaKia, whose life was tragically taken was born on October 1, 1987. She was a beacon of love, creativity, and kindness. She was a 2006 graduate of Statesboro High School and was a member of the New Sandridge Apostolic Worship Center. She was employed by EnMark in Savannah at the time of her passing.
Jakia had a passion for hairstyling, cooking, and caring for children. Children held a special place in Jakia's heart. She loved them dearly and was a nurturing figure to many.
Fashion and makeup were more than hobbies for JaKia; they were expressions of her vibrant personality. She had an innate sense of style, always staying ahead of trends and encouraging others to embrace their unique beauty. Her makeup artistry highlighted her creativity, leaving those she worked with feeling both stunning and confident. A culinary enthusiast, Jakia found great pleasure in cooking for her loved ones. Her kitchen was often filled with the tantalizing aromas of her delicious creations, each meal prepared with love and care.
Ms. JaKia Lanier leaves behind cherished memories with her family and friends. She is survived by her parents: David (Loretta) Lanier Sr., of Memphis, TN; Joann (Kenneth) Robinson of Hinesville, GA; her children: sons, Trevor Powell, Dallas Lanier, Kingston Roberson, and daughter Stormy Roberson, all of Savannah, GA; and her maternal grandfather, Clifford Keel of Statesboro, GA.
She is also remembered by her special friend, Willie Roberson; her siblings: David (Jessica) Lanier, Jr., JaVontae (LaCrisha) Parrish, Tailaijah Jenkins, and Carol Palacio-Brown, of Savannah, GA; Maurice Lanier, Janae (Antonio) Keel, Sabrina (David) Davis, David Lundy, Grant Thomas, Jermaine Thomas, Andrew Perry Clay, and Shanae Clay, of Statesboro, GA; Jashavious (Kani'ah) Keel, of Jesup, GA; Roderick (LeKesha) Lanier, and Lenard Davis, of Cordova, TN; Joseph Parrish, III, of Edge Field, SC; Jacoby Reynolds, of San Antonio, TX; Davisha (E.D.) Lanier-Hughes, and Antwan Harris, of Memphis, TN; Haroldaisha (Leon) Jenkins, of Ludowici, GA; Lisha Linnear, of Rex, GA; Yvette (Benjamin) Whitehead, of Charleston, SC; Rosalind (Ed) Stewart, of Phenix City, AL; Latonya (Corey) Smith, of Canton, GA; Jontae (Iesha) Keel, and Brandon Clay, of Atlanta, GA; Jeremy Thomas, and Orenthal Thomas, of Sarasota, FL.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Melvin and Elizabeth Lanier Sr., her maternal grandmother, Annie Lois Keel, and her paternal aunt, Evangelist Eloise Clay, who raised JaKia from an early age. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lotia Clay Williams and Chelsea Thomas, as well as special uncles and aunts: Pastor Bobby G. Lanier Sr., Melvin Lanier Jr., Mary A. Roberts, and Linda Gail Keel. Ms. Lanier is survived by a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends who will continue to honor her memory.
Public viewing for Ms. JaKia De’ceontae Lanier will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024, from Noon until 6:00 PM. The family will receive guests for the family visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Ms. Lanier will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Elm Street Church of God with Rev. Joseph Deloach, officiating; Elder Alexander Smith, Jr., is the pastor.
Interment will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
