Ervin Lee "Sank" Hagins was born on March 26, 1952, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the late Emory "Buck" and Eliza Grant Hagins. After receiving his education in the Screven County School System, he made his way to Chicago, Illinois, in the late 1970s. Through unwavering determination and commitment, Ervin thrived in his profession and eventually became a Master Glass Technician before settling down in Georgia.
Tragically, on Tuesday, June 5, 2024, Ervin passed away at Pruitt Rehabilitation Center in Vidalia, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Dorothy M. Davis, Rose Mary Hagins, Susan Hagins, brother-in-law David L. Davis, and niece Maya L. Hagins.
Ervin is survived by his two sons, Erwin J. Hagins and Lance D. Hagins (Jacquese), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Keondre' and Lacie, all residing in Statesboro, GA. He is also survived by his brothers, Overseer Emory (Rosa) Hagins of Sylvania, GA, and Antonio F. Hagins of Statesboro, GA, and his sisters, Marchal Carter and Judith (Robert) Wallace, both of Statesboro, GA. Additionally, he is mourned by his aunts and uncles: Roosevelt Hagins, MacArthur (Katrina) Hagins, Judy McCray, Evangelist Beatrice (Pastor Larry) Mincey, Martha Mays, Richard (Thelma) Charlton, and Ida Dent. Ervin was also cherished by his special niece Keicha Timmons and special cousin and caregiver, Leon Hagins of Statesboro, GA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ervin Lee "Sank" Hagins will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to his family, and the love he shared with all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A public viewing for Mr. Ervin "Saint" Hagins will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from Noon until 5:00 PM. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Hagins will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the New Beginnings Community Fellowship Church, 4235 Willow Hill Road, Portal, GA 30450.
Burial will follow in the Friendship Memorial Cemetery, Friendship Road, Sylvania, GA.
