Mr. Earnest Lovett, Jr., age 83, of Statesboro passed away early Friday morning, March 1, 2024, at his daughter's residence. Mr. Lovett was born on May 22, 1940, to the late Pauline Robinson Lovett and Earnest "Kidd" Lovett, Sr. He was born and raised in Statesboro, GA, and was educated in the Bulloch County School System, graduating from the William James High School in 1955. At an early age, he joined the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Statesboro.
In 1960, Earnest married the late Carolyn Bradley Lovett, and to this union, they were blessed with six children. Earnest worked as a Certified Master Electrician and Plumber for many years with the Roscoe Laircey Company. He also performed a lot of private work in his career field. During his life, the things that brought him the most joy were fishing, listening to his favorite music and dancing as well as tinkering with his "toys" tools, eating and hanging out at the Big Ma's Restaurant, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest (Kidd) Lovett, Sr. and Pauline Lovett, his spouse, Carolyn Lovett, and two brothers, the late Frankie Joe Lovett and the late Freddie Joe Lovett.
He leaves his memories to be cherished, his sister Mae Pearl Hodges, Covington, GA. Children: Earshella Miles, Sherrell Lovett, both of Statesboro, GA; Dr. ShaRon Lovett-Ozuem of Decatur, GA; Earnest Terrance Lovett, III, Stephanie Wynn both of Statesboro, GA, and Pereze Lovett, of Hawaii, and a special son-in-law, Cedric Wynn, Sr. also of Statesboro, GA. He is also survived by Teresa Wooten of Hinesville, GA; and Wanda Lundy of Statesboro, GA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing for Mr. Earnest Lovett, Jr., will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the Joanna M. Fields visitation room at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lovett will be held Graveside, Friday, March 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Bulloch Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Allen Webb, officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service hour.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
