Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Ms. Charlotte Collins Roundtree, age 67 of Statesboro. Ms. Roundtree passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence in Statesboro after an extended illness.
Charlotte was born on June 23, 1957, in Statesboro, GA. She was the cherished daughter of the late Vernon Collins and Mary Hendrix. A proud graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School, Class of 1975, Charlotte pursued her passion for numbers and earned a degree in Accounting with Honors from Ogeechee Technical Institute in 1996. Her work as an accountant exemplified her dedication to detail and excellence, contributing many years to the profession she loved.
Charlotte's life was a testament to the power of family and community. Charlotte was blessed with two children: Shannon Taylor, Jeremy Johnson, and a step-son, Eddie Carroll. Affectionately known as "Mama Chacha," Charlotte had a way of making everyone feel at home. She was the heart of her family, renowned for her infectious laughter, her playful banter, and her ability to lift spirits with just a few words. Her warmth and humor will be remembered by all who knew her, and her role as the go-to "Mama Chacha" in times of need will never be forgotten.
Charlotte leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Eddie Roundtree of Statesboro, GA; her children, Shannon Taylor, Jeremy Johnson, and Eddie Carroll, all of Statesboro, GA; her beloved sister, Donna (William) Keerbs; her nephew, Brandon (Krista) Smith; and her 12 grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the time she spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Collins and Mary Hendrix, but her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in the lives she touched.
Charlotte will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, whose light brightened every room she entered. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her spirit remains with those who loved her, and her memory will continue to inspire joy and warmth in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A public viewing for Mrs. Charlotte Roundtree will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the funeral home. The family will receive guests for the visitation and prayer service at 4 PM.
