Ms. Betty Jean Evans, age 58 passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Jenkins County Medical Center in Millen, GA. Betty was born to Willie Evans and Mary Evans on April 24, 1966, in Millen, GA.
She received her formal education from the Jenkins County School System and graduated from Jenkins County High School. She started her career at the Jenkins County Board of Education as a bus driver for 20 years until she retired and later, she continued to work at Bi-lo Grocery Store where she worked until she became disabled in 2015. She was a devoted member of Outreach for Christ Ministries of Millen, GA where she served faithfully.
Betty Jean was best known for her outgoing attitude and her deep love for her family. She believed family was everything. Betty had a smile that was contagious and kept those around her laughing.
She is preceded in death by her parents the late Willie Evans and the late Mary Evans, four brothers, the late Edward Evans, Ricky Evans, Ronald Evans, and Milton Evans and a sister, the late Queen Evans.
Betty is survived by her children, her daughter, Janikkia Cooper, and her son Damien Cooper both of Millen, GA; a sister Evangelist Bobbye (Larry) McReynolds of Statesboro, GA; brothers Pastor Richard (Pastor Rosalind) Evans of Sylvania, GA; and Willie Evans Jr., of Millen, GA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing for Ms. Evans will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The family will receive guests for the family visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 at the funeral home.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Betty Jean Evans will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Outreach for Christ Ministries, 379 Mulkey Road, Millen Ga 30442 with Evangelist Joyce Brihm, Eulogist and Pastor Sara Hills, presiding.
The burial will take place on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Noon at the Old Rocky Ford Baptist Church cemetery, 1494 Rock Branch Road, Millen, GA 30442.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
